Dressing Up In Hip Hop

From baggy jeans and bling blings to classic gangster-inspired suits and bowler hats, a distinct and evolving fashion style has always been an indispensable element of the hip hop industry. Hip hop fashion traces its roots to the clothing style of African-American youths. Since then it has drawn its influences from hip hop scenes in different parts of the United States, from California to New York, as well as from various elements of underground and popular culture.

One of the earlier clothing styles in hip hop was the sportswear coupled with conspicuous jewelry which became the signature look for old school rap. Tracksuits, bomber jackets, berets, Doc Martens, and sneakers were some of the common apparel then. Men sported gold chains while women wore large gold earrings. The sports apparel of Adidas, Nike, and Le Coq Sportif were some of the commonly patronized brands in the 1980s. The 1990s saw the growing popularity of more sportswear from Tommy Hilfiger, DKNY, Polo, Calvin Klein, and Nautica. This particular fashion style became known as the urban streetwear and was further supplied by such brands as FUBU, Ecko Unlimited, Walker Wear, and Boss Jeans.

The emergence of gangsta rap as a sub-genre of hip hop fueled another fashion statement, this time inspired by the clothing styles of street thugs and prison inmates. Gangsta rappers started wearing baggy pants, bandannas, and tattoos. Not a few conservatives reacted negatively to the sagging pants and low-hanging waistlines. A religious group tried to combat the fashion style by giving out belts while others sought to make it illegal.

Other hip hop personalities opted for the classy gangster look and wore double-breasted suits, bowler hats, silk shirts, and alligator-skin shoes. This Mafioso-inspired image was popularized by the Notorious B.I.G. and Sean Combs a.k.a. Diddy, with the latter becoming known as the Shiny Suit Man.

Recent trends in hip hop apparel show the influence of hipster and preppy styles. Oversized shirts were replaced with tighter-fitting short-sleeved shirts, tracksuits were traded for sports coats, and tighter denims were favored over sagging jeans. Some of the popular accessories are large belt buckles and skull and skeleton ornaments. Decorated hoodies, fitted caps, and trucker hats are also commonly worn.

Heavy jewelry has also become an enduring mark of hip hop fashion, symbolizing an ostentatious display of fame and wealth. Known in hip hop slang as bling bling, these flashy accessories became ubiquitous fashion icons and common semiotic elements in a lot of music videos. Gold jewelry was the craze in the 80s but it was eventually edged out by silver and platinum. Grills or removable metal teeth coverings also became popular among celebrities.

With the development of hip hop fashion, rap artists eventually ventured into the clothing business and started producing their own labels. The rap group Wu-Tang Clan has its Wu-Wear, Damon Dash and Jay-Z have Rocawear, and Diddy has Sean John. Diddy also bagged the 2003 Menswear Designer of the Year Award given by the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Other hip hop personalities with their own clothing lines are Eminem, 50 Cent, Russell Simmons, Kimora Lee Simmons, and OutKast.

Name Your Baby for the Stars

What do I name my baby? Along with minor things like, how will I support my child and oh my goodness the baby is how many pounds and coming through how big an opening, this is a question that plagues new parents today. More and more people are shooting for originality in the naming process, wanting to be certain that their child is unique, one who stands out from the crowd.

Of course, if you wanted to fit in, you could pick up one of the most popular baby names. For girls, the top ten includes (in order from #1 to #10): Emily, Emma, Madison, Abigail, Olivia, Isabella, Hannah, Samantha ,Ava, or Ashley. Boys can pick from: Jacob, Michael, Joshua, Matthew, Ethan, Andrew, Daniel, Anthony, Christopher, or Joseph. But these seem to blasé.

Why not go for a celebrity name? Jennifer ranks pretty high in 2005, although it has dropped significantly over the past fifteen years, falling from #8 in 1991 to #42 last year. Perhaps Ms. Anniston and J-Lo aren’t considered worthy. Madonna didn’t even make the grade of the top 1000 baby names; of course, most new parents today probably scarcely remember her. Then again, I wouldn’t want my daughter’s friends singing “Like a Virgin” every time she came to class. Paris has moved up on the charts significantly in the last three years. Perhaps new parents are hoping to find a claim to the Hilton fortune. But ‘Brittany’ seems to be in a downward trend. Maybe it will pick up as those teen girls get a little older.

Looking for a manly boys name to convey that rugged independence? How about ‘Marley’, which ranks as #467 in 2005? A big fan of ‘The Princess Bride’? Go with ‘Westley’, and perhaps your son will turn out to be an adventuring pirate who bravely slays ROUSes. (Sadly, ‘Buttercup’ didn’t make the list. Maybe ‘Daisy’?) Since the tide of popular opinion has turned against Brad Pitt, the name ‘Brad’ will most likely continue to decline in popularity. Oddly, despite the former success of both Tom Cruise and Tom Hanks, the name ‘Tom’ hasn’t even been among the top 1000 picks for nearly ten years. And thankfully, Eminem has escaped the top rankings, as well.

Celebrities come and go, but their names tend to stick around for a long time. You never know when Hollywood may be calling to your child, and giving them a head start may help. Then again, it may keep them safe at home.

Statistical information came from the Social Security Administration's baby name website.

Eminem Slimshady

Firstly revealed by the fable Dr.Dre, and then debut of the Eminem Show, his firstly set on Shady Recording label, already had most leading hiphop fans mad abount Marshall Mathers. Jam packed of powerful lyrical cuts that dig deep into the mentality of a pervertly warped but exceedingly exceptional rap artist, the raps contains some of the most non compromising and chilling controversal lyrics ever recorded. And the primary grounds for the immense profits of Marshall Mathers.

Marshall Mathers perhaps summarizes his white hiphop artist name the best by saying "Just sometimes one motherf***er makes it and finally that just happens to be me." It will have to be seen how long Eminem would be about, but his prospects sure have exceeded the man eminem is most frequently equated with, Vanilla Ice. However he is not slim shadys only enemy in the hip hop globe. Vanilla Ice told The Source recently that Slimshady "raps like a girl" adding "I merely dont like that tiny screaky voice." Slim Shady also distinguishes himself from the Ice man by going on the attack against just about everybody in his raps.

Eminem , was born October 17th, nineteen seventy two, may be probably the most controversial and recognized rap music rapper of this era, having the alias Slimshady. Slim Shady is perhaps better know for being one of the few revolutionising white rapper in the rap industry, not to mention one of most successful artists. Eminem is also notorious for the negative influence involving lots of his lyrics, that has been stated by critics to be racist, angry and dodgy.

Eminem's Rap Lyrics Inspires Us All To Seize The Moment

You better
Lose yourself, in the music, the moment
You own it
You better never let it go
You only get one shot
Do not miss your chance to blow
This opportunity comes once in a lifetime

-Eminem, “Lose Yourself”

Eminem, the controversial blonde-haired, blue-eyed rapper from the streets of Detroit gives one of his best and most inspiring performances in the Oscar winning song, "Lose Yourself" from the 8-Mile motion picture soundtrack in which he was the star. The song gives insight on the ambition of a young wanna-be rapper. What's so inspiring about this song is that it speaks to all our ambitions along with our procrastinations and you could easily apply the message in the song to your own life.

The above quote is the catchy chorus within the song and though Eminem is referring to the pursuit of musical success, the profound chorus is actually encouraging (maybe you can even say, demanding) the listener to "lose yourself" in what it is you're passionate about. There's a moment; THE moment in all of our lives where we only get one chance to seize the opportunity, achieve and change our lives forever. Slim Shady (as he's affectionately called) inspires us to "own" the moment and don't let a once in a lifetime opportunity pass by.

In "Lose Yourself", Eminem is masterful at telling the story of an underdog whose sheer desire gives him the strength and courage to pursue his dream. We all have felt like an underdog at some point in our lives. This song could be the soundtrack to your life serving as inspiration throughout your triumphs and failures. "Lose yourself" in whatever you are doing or want to do in your life. When that moment comes, seize it, own it and never let it go until you reach the top.

Eminem Raps It Up Just Perfectly

Born on 17th Oct, 1973 at St.Joseph, Missouri Marshall Bruce Mathers III popularly known as Eminem in the music world is one of the most recognized names in the music world. He is also known by the name Slim Shady. Eminem is one of the most controversial rap artists that have graced the music world. His popularity is huge and it is not limited just to America and some European countries only, but his name and fame spreads worldwide. Some of his traits like controversial lyrics, quick wit and rebellion make him different from other artists in the music arena. Eminem has had a difficulty childhood and has seen many hard times in his life. Probably this is the reason why his songs touch children who are have a troubled life. Eminem’s songs are not meant for any target audience, but he sings for all and here some people do find his lyrics offending or explicit.

Eminem’s debut hit single My Name was a huge hit. Eminem is not only a talented singer, but also a good music producer as well. His childhood days were spent in extreme poverty, his mother relocated to Michigan to live in public housing shelter, in relative’s home and in mobile homes as well. His mother Debbie was prescribed drugs for some medical conditions and later she became an addict to these prescription drugs. His mother’s drug abuse is evident in the lyrics of many of Eminem’s songs. He began performing at an early age of thirteen under the name M&M taken from his initials. Eminem was of Caucasian race and for this he faced difficulty as he was not readily accepted everywhere. But it was solely due to his music talent that he has gained worldwide popularity and acceptance.

The suicide of Ronnie Eminem’s uncle and friend was very devastating for him in the year 1991. However he took up things to support his wife Kim who was pregnant with his daughter. He released his first independent solo album Infinite in the year 1996. The album received mixed reviews and criticism. The critics found his music to be too much similar to rappers AZ and Nas; this was proved to be the major reason for the failure of the album. After this failure his wife left him and prevented him for seeing his daughter. The lyrics of his songs became more personal and dark at this time due to the separation from his wife and child and also due to his failed suicide attempts. All his lyrics contained his disturbing and his negative outlook to life. He abused drug and was addicted to sleep inducing medicine. Subsequently he entered a rehabilitation center to take car of his addiction to the drug.

Eminem has won numerous music awards including nine Grammy Awards, two Juno Awards and host of MTV Video Music Awards and MTV European Music Awards. Some of the other awards that he won include Teen choice Awards, American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, Detroit Music Awards and World Music Awards. His popularity is worldwide and his growing number of fans is testimony to that.

Origins of the Mathers Family

Eminem’s roots can be found in Scandinavia through his mother Debbie Nelson and in South Wales through his father Marshall Bruce Mathers II.

But Eminem has mostly Scottish blood running through his veins. On both sides( maternal and paternal sides), Scottish roots can be found.

Back to the 7 th generation on the paternal side, Peter Mathers from Pennsylvania married a Scottish woman named Isabella (last name unknown). On the maternal side, Scottish roots can be found in Marshall’s family in the 6 th generation : Ailsa Mc Allister from Edingburgh emigrated to the United States –precisely to New York in 1870.

Most of the Mathers have been working as farmers in the state of Missouri.

Marshall Mathers I, Eminem’s paternal grandfather has been working as an assistant hotel manager at Plainsman Hotel in st Joseph Missouri and his wife Rae has been employed at Del Cornonado hotel in guest services.

When Eminem’s paternal grandmother Rae died recently in 2002 from an Alzheimer desease , Marshall Mathers II discovered interesting documents related to his famous son like a Christmas card from Marshall addressed to his grandmother Rae.

Ethymology of the name Mathers

Mathers means mower or reaper.

History of the name Mathers

The name Mathers is related to the Scottish Barclay clan. The family Barclay settled down in a place called Mathers in Scotland in the 13 th century. The history of the Mathers goes back to an english immigrant Theobald de Berkeley and his son who owned the estate of Mathers. Alexander was the first to use the surname Mathers.

Pronounciation of the surname Mathers

It is commonly admitted that the surname Mathers is pronounced as if there was an y in the middle of the name : Ma(y)thers .

If you want to know more about the history and genealogy of the family Mathers, you can find some interesting info here :

I’d like to thank the people who made up this interesting website. I discovered a lot of info about Marshall’s paternal side. I have a lot of info about his maternal side, so I hope to be able to complete his family tree as soon as possible.

2007 Brings Hot New Releases From All Genres

As the New Year begins, musicians in all genres prepare for the release of new music. My most anticipated release from these musicians is Infinity on High from Fall Out Boy. New tracks include “This Ain’t A Scene, It’s An Arms Race,” “The Take Over, The Break’s Over,” and a collaboration with rapper Jay Z entitled “Thriller.” The album is due out in the US on February 6th.

The Oklahoma born country singer Blake Shelton is also releasing an album in the early part of 2007. Pure BS will be out in stores on March 27th. The first single, “Don’t Make Me,” was released in late 2006.

A rather surprising announcement has been made by Marshall Mathers, aka. Eminem. After announcing his retirement in 2005, Eminem will be releasing another album in 2007. He is also a member of the hip-hop group D-12 which is also releasing an album in the spring of 2007. This comes as a shock to many fans because of the tragic death of group member Proof. D-12’s new album will be entitled The Ambition. There has been no word on when Eminem’s album will drop, of the name of that album.

Two musicians will be remembered in the year 2007 with album releases after their deaths. Rapper Tupac Shakur will reportedly be honored with the release of another album after his death on September 13, 1996. This will be the 12th album released after his murder. There has been no announcement made on the details of this album; however, fans are waiting in anticipation for the album to be released.

Elvis Presley, also known as “The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll,” is also being honored with an album. Although no details are being released at this time, it seems as if the album will be a compilation of previously recorded and released songs.

2007 looks to be a year of great music. Many artists are releasing albums that are very different from their earlier ventures. Keep your eyes peeled and your ears open.

Eminem: A Social Commentator

In an interview given to Musik Magazine in 2000, Eminem comments some of his lyrics:

'Please Lord, this boy needs Jesus/Help this child, help him destroy these demons/Please send me a brand new car and a prostitute while my wife is sick in the hospital'. What I'm trying to say is we've got all these preachers going 'Jesus, Jesus! And then they're molesting kids. I'm taking stabs at crooked muthafuckers in the system. (Eminem)

Believe it or not, but Eminem feels concern for kids. He is a denonciator of our society’s hypocrisy. Some people don’t like it when the truth gets exposed like this. But in the end only truth matters. Eminem’s words will shock you, stab you, pull away your old fashioned way of thinking : he is a commentator of our society’s deseases and should be taken seriously, because he does his job very well. Between his funny and dark humored lines, Eminem has something serious to say. The theme of the perverted priest also appears in the « Role Model » video where you can see the priest caressing a young boy’s knee.

Parents, you should be more worried for your kids being abused by priest than by Eminem’s so called « bad influence ». Eminem won’t rape your kids…
How many paedophiles priests have tried to abuse young children? How many scandals involving young kids the Vatican has been confronted to? How many scandals the Vatican is currently trying to hide?

If you check out this website, you will find out that there is an alarming number of sex affairs involving priests and children:

http://www.licatholic.com/news.htm

I’ve been confronted to Christian fanatics from different tendencies and I noticed that they all has something in common. While considering themselves as “saints” and calling people who didn’t belong to their organizations “sinners”, they were in fact perfect hypocrits. They were playing two different roles and were acting like two different persons whether they were at Church of at home. At Chuch, they were trying to hide their own dirty behavior. At home, they were swearing, disrespecting their wifes and children, hiding some dirty magazines and tapes. And of course, they considered themselves as “saved by Jesus” while other people were (you guessed it) lost.
What an hypocritical behavior!

Eminem fights against such hypocrisy. He describes things the way they are. He also expressed against Bill Clinton’s hypocrisy:

« When someone says kids look up to me, I'm like 'Our president smokes weed and is getting his dick sucked and is fucking lying about it. So don't tell me shit. I'm not the fucking president. I'm a rapper and I don't want to be a role model'. I'll tell a kid, 'Look up to me as someone who's come from nothing and now has everything. Don't look up to me for being violent and doing drugs. Don't be like me.' »

Eminem’s got a clear message for kids (and also for adults). Look at things the way they are. Don’t try to escape from reality. Look at it in its entire uglyness and try to learn a lesson from it.
To the kids, he clearly wants to say that he’s not their role model, but that they can learn from his story. Eminem encourages a lot of kids who come from poor social classes. He has shown the that they can « make it » if they are determined to.
He is not the fool some parents want to make of him. He never encourages them to be violent nor to take drugs.

Eminem - Short Biography

The story of Eminem is similar to that of his songs, it needs a little censoring. Some may not be appropriate for those viewed as too young, but here I feel it's important to look at why his music, and consequently Eminem himself, appears so angry. Everywhere you look in his life from his hard child hood with an unstable cruel mother, to his well-publicized and rocky relationship with wife Kim, you see that Eminem raps about what he knows. His life is the subject of his music and he makes no excuses. But a hard upbringing only propelled him into superstardom as you can read in magazines like The Source and XXL. Eminem took his humble beginnings and built a career.

Eminem (Marshall Bruce Mathers) was born on October 17, 1972, in Kansas City, Missouri where he lived for twelve years until he moved to Detroit. He never had much of a chance to make friends moving every other month because his mother continued to get evicted for the lack of pay. Eminem went to school up to the 9th grade where he failed three times before dropping out. He then continued to strive for that record deal to make him famous. While trying to achieve his goal he little Haile Jade Scott was born on December 25, 1995 with long time girlfriend Kim Scott. (Eminem homepage) Eminem continued to rap after the birth of his daughter entering into 97 Rap Olympics in Las Angeles that produced 1,500 to the 1st place winner. Eminem furiously came in 2nd desperately needing the money not knowing that a few producers had seen him from Interscope. Finally he had the opportunity to show what he is made of with Dr. Dre, Dr. Dre was so impressed after hearing Eminem free styling on a Los Angeles radio station that he put out a manhunt for the Michigan rhymer. (Eminem homepage) a famous rap producer that wanted to open the doors for Eminem. The two instantly hit it off, recording four songs in the there first six hours of working - three that made it to his first LP. (Eminem Bio.) Now officially making it, Marshall and Dre set to make his second LP. The album became the Marshall Mathers LP and won 3 Grammies and was the first rap album ever to be nominated ‘Album of the Year’, selling more than 8 million records in the United States alone. (Eminem Bio.) Eminem continues to succeed with the his partners who started his career for him although he continues to face many difficult times between the media, his mother and the long conflicting relationship between him and his girlfriend. After they had broken up they had obviously still talked, either about there relationship of for the sake of their daughter Hailie who means more to Eminem then anyone in the world at this point of his life. I wanted to be a family to Kim and Hailie and raise my daughter the right way and not cut on her like my father did to me. My family is all I have ever fought for and all I’ve ever tried to protect. The only thing I’m scared of is being taken away from my little girl. (Chuck Weiner) Eminem was also scared to raise a family and wasn’t sure if he would have sufficient funds or know how too. When my daughter was born I was so scared I wouldn’t be able to raise her and support her, as a father should. Her first two Christmases we had nothing, but this last Christmas, when she turned three she had so many f*ckin’ presents under the tree, she kept opening them saying, ‘this one’s for me too?’ My daughter wasn’t born with a silver spoon in her mouth. But she’s got one now! (Chuck Weiner) Eminem can’t help but to spoil his little girl being that he feels it was degrading that way his mother treated him. If my mother is f*ckin’ cruel enough, knowing she didn’t help me get where I’m at, try to take food out of my mouth and out of my daughter’s mouth, try to take me for everything that I have, then I’m not holding back on this album. She’s always been out to get me, and now she knows I have money so she won’t leave be alone. I know that’s not a nice thing to say about your mother, but unfortunately it’s true. (Chuck Weiner) Eminem has so much hate toward his mother that has built up in all the recent years in his life that he will do anything to keep Hailie happy and keep a healthy relationship between the two of them. His mom on the other he can’t seem to forgive because of all of the grief and trouble that she has put him threw.

Eminem has psychologically turned 360 degrees throughout his life. From the fighting and confusion with his mother, never meeting his father to being one the biggest success stories in rap history. The best example is an experiment of Eminems anger management, after he had started to rise he would get opinions from people saying “Your white, why are you rapping” & “Go play Rock and Role” and he said that drove him angrier and angrier and he emphasized it throughout his lyrics. Eminem was probably born as a kid with no chemical imbalances, but after his mother put him threw so much hell after he has grown up he may have a chemical imbalance and not be able to control some of his emotions that he feels when people disrespect him. When he is presented on T.V. he looks as if he is always sad of something is always bothering him that he can’t be proud of his achievements of happy to be where he is and it’s got everything to do with his childhood and recent terrible interactions he’s had with friends, family and rivals.

Eminem/The Re Up Mixtape Review

Global rating of the product: 5 stars

Drug dependence, the murder of your best friend, the collapse of your marriage can break an individual. After the flood of issues in which Eminem was literally drowning during the last months, many people thought that the skilled rapper would retire from the rap game. However Eminem is a stand up man with that thick skin that allowed him to resist to life tempests.

Eminem is back with his crew, stronger than ever, bringing to you his new hard worked on CD, the Re Up mixtape.

Joyful violin sounds, gunshots, hammering drum beats starts Shady Narcotics which is the prelude to the mixtape in which Eminem introduces his crew: D12, Obie Trice, 50 Cent, Stat Quo, Bob Creek and Cashis.

From the oldest to the newest members, everyone has his precise place and plays his role in this valuable team work.

We’re Back: the shady soldiers are back, more offensive than ever, with razor blades alike words. Big mouth running haters be ready to be punched right in the face. Eminem, Obie, Bob Creek, Cashis and Stat Quo will smash the jealous hoes in the game. Any underground artist aims at becoming mainstream someday: so don’t hate, congratulate!

Gunshots, numerous violins, a dark bassline totally situate the context: the arise of a lyrical battle is imminent.

The heat increases as Obie Trice spits lyrical bullets on a Pistol Pistol sample.

As the sky gets cloudy and darker, you can smell the smoke in the air. Bizarre and Kuniva reinforce the roughness of the hell of a murderous ambience. Be ready for war while keyboard, drums and dark « murder » vocals combined with some gunshots will portray you the Detroit hood like it is. I think that Bizarre and Kuniva’s beautiful performance needs to be pointed out. I recommend you the song. Don’t sleep on that one.

Everything Is Shady: let Cashis take over in the scurrilous themed song. The Shady gladiators are teaming up and will leave their enemies lying lifeless, lyrically speaking.

Eminem and 50 Cent introduce you to The Re Up in a rhythmic beat box mode. The song is beautifully rhythmic, Eminem’s vocal performance is well handled from the beginning to the end. 50 Cent will keep on with the same beautiful spirit that will remind many of you of the Get Rich Or Die Trying album. Good job!

You Don’t Know is a classic, already. I reviewed the song and the video a while ago.

Jimmy Crack Corn is based on a Yellow Brick alike musical background. The song is provocative. Eminem humors those who are running their big mouths in the rap game.

Trapped will feature RIP Big Proof as a tribute to the gifted fallen D12 soldier.

When Swifty and Kon Artis unite their talents, bombs are thrown on the scene. Swinging beats, light piano sounds mixed up with violins and keyboars will totally enhance the « killa » track.

Chord sounds, harpshichord notes, light piano sounds, a good dose of offensiveness, sharp and incisive words will underline Bob Creekwater’s good performance. Bob Creek is one of the most underrated Shady Records signed artist, but he is nevertheless talented. Check him out!

I fully enjoyed Eminem’s Public Enemy track that gets political and offers some insight about assassination plots. Eminem fully masters his flow and shows some good lyrical skills on the well handled song.

Eminem concludes the mixtape with No Apologies. In a long monologue, Eminem shows some lyrical dexterity and confronts critics. No apologies for being himself and for speaking his mind. The « arsenic writer », the lyrical genius is back with some beautiful, poetic lines:

« My head hit's the pillow, a weeping willow, i can't sleep, a pain so deep it bellows But these Cellos help just to keep me mellow, hand's on my head, touched knees to elbow I'm hunched over, emotion just flows over, these cold shoulders are both frozen, you don't know me… »

Monotonous piano and keyboard sounds contrast with the sudden introduction of bells and violins. Marshall Mathers’ voice and lyrics are an outlet for the bottled rage. The song fully enlightens Eminem’s lyrical mastery. I love the track, because it is unique in its creativity and outshines all the excellent tracks of the Re Up.

Globally speaking the Re Up enlightens the whole Shady Records crews’ artistic collaborations. Eminem is so sorry to disappoint all the people who nearly buried him lyrically and artistically. The tight emcee is backed by his crew that also shows some good skills.

The Re Up is worth your interest. I’d strongly advice you to own it in your hip hop library.

Are You Content With Your Crowd-Wow Factor? Six Reasons to Emulate Eminem if You Want Loyal Web Fans

Let's blow past all the reasons so many folks despise Eminem. He's confused about what race he is, he says mean things and he's sending the wrong message to today's youth. Sure, we know that Eminem is the quintessential Bad Guy. But let's take a look at what makes Eminem sticky, like your web marketing personality should be.

Last night, Eminem's concert was being aired on my TV and I confess I kind of watched some of it while writing articles. I couldn't help myself; the guy is THAT magnetic. So without further ado, I bring to you... Five Reasons to Emulate Eminem if You Want to Become a Web Guru.

1. Eminem Means What He Says... do YOU?

Right or wrong, Slim Shady is one emphatic dude and that is exactly the way you MUST speak to your audience if you plan to build up to Guru Status. People don't follow weaklings. People follow leaders who are 100% sure of what they say. The best way to show your self-assurance is to PREACH, PREACH and PREACH some more. Never doubt yourself, at least not out in public. I mean never!

2. Eminem Loves to Stir Up Controversy... do YOU?

Who's blog are you going to read; the wishy washy mouth breather's who parrots and whines all day? Or the guy who makes people sit up straight and take notice because he states his opinion and is ready to whip out his debate guns if the need arises? Be a little bit controversial in your web content if you can. Of course, unlike Eminem, a marketing professional should never be out to hurt or offend people with hateful talk. But you must have your own thoughts, and all the better if a few of them challenge the status quo. Be a ground breaker!

3. Eminem Is Lyrical... are YOU?

Don't let those goofy lounge suits and the profanity fool you. Rappers are geniuses in their own right-- lyrical geniuses, that is. When was the last time you freestyle-rhymed a barrage of well-executed insults at a buddy and blew away the crowd of onlookers? Um, probably never? LYRICAL is exactly what you NEED to be when writing web copy for your business website. Your copy should have rhythm, steady beat, perfect pacing, alliteration, clever wordplay and original phrases. Heck, you can even bust a rhyme from time to time like the rappers, poets and songwriters do. If you can't create it yourself, hire a professional to create engaging copy that's so tight it's on springs... and just like those pop lyrics, it positively SINGS.

4. Eminem Can Put the Crowd Under a Spell... can YOU?

5. Eminem Does Dead-Ringer Impressions of Other People... do YOU?

Ever listen to Eminem pretending to be someone from a foreign country, doing a "Valley girl" impression or making fun of the way politicians speak? Blasphemous as that may be, that means he has an ear for how people speak - their tone, their inflection, the emotion behind their words. You must possess this same talent of "emulating" others if you want to sell things on the web and be good at it. Each product that you sell in your lifetime must effectively speak the customer's language, talk his talk, walk his walk and essentially BE the customer, speaking through your product. If you're a natural imitator, you'll no doubt excel in direct marketing and up your Crowd Wow Factor.

6. Eminem Emotionally Connects With the Audience... Do YOU?

You MUST engage your reader if you want him to keep coming back for more. Just like Eminem makes every single person in his audience FEEL SOMETHING with his intense, emotionally-stirring lyrics... just like Eminem reaches out to touch the crowd with his own hand... you must reach out and touch your audience with your words.

In your copy, you must produce the desire for your product by tapping the needs of your audience. The words on your page should make the reader feel like you understand him so well that you're practically best friends. He must agree with what you say to the point of being utterly convinced that you can provide the solutions he's searching for better than the next guy.

So are you content with your Crowd-Wow Factor, and ready to become a Bona Fide Web Guru? Then take your lessons from that disturbing rapper guy, Eminem... and start converting fans into loyal customers as soon as TOMORROW.

Facts about Betty Kresin, Eminem's grandmother

Betty Kresin, Eminem’s grandmother from the maternal side , got married at the age of 14. She got six children from 3 different marriages. She first married Bob Nelson. She gave birth to her daughter Debbie in 1955.She accuses her first husband, Bob Nelson, of being verbally abusive. Both moved to Warren, Michigan, to be closer to Betty’s stepmother .Despite the problems the couple esperienced, she gave Bob two more sons, Todd and Steven. They divorced in the early 60’s and Betty came back to her hometown St Joseph, where she met Ron Gilpin, her second husband. She had two more children with him. One of them is Betti Schmitt (Eminem’s aunt and Debbie’s half sister), who is still in touch and in good terms with Eminem. Ron Gilpin was an alcoholic who used to beat up his whole family. Violence was part of their daily life. Ron left his family in 1968.Dramas surrounded Betty’s family. In 1991, Todd Nelson killed his brother-in-law, Mike Harris in self defense case. He was sentenced to jail for 8 years.Betty ‘s sixth child from a third marriage, Ronnie Polkingharn , was Eminem’s uncle and closest friend. He committed suicide in 1991.

Eminem grew up for a while at his grandmom’s home. She talks about his harsh conditions of living in Detroit :

« It was a poor school and they wanted his shoes. He was one of the only white children going to this segregated school. And one time they took the shoes off his feet and he had to come home in a snowstorm with no shoes on. But the story people keep asking me - "he was unconscious and almost died and all these doctors...", now I know nothing about this and I'm his grandmother. »

People should think twice before calling Marshall a racist.

Betty was angry with Marshall because he never attended to Ronnie’s funeral. In fact, Marshall went depressive and swallowed a bottle of Tylenol and survived to another suicide attempt. He was unable to go to Ronnie’s funeral, his pain was too immense. But Betty didn’t know what happened during this period.

"I was kind of bitter about him writing about my dead son, because the last five years of my deceased boy, Marshall had not even seen him. Marshall - Eminem - and my son Ronnie were very close. He idolised Ronnie and Ronnie loved him. He never even came to Ronnie's funeral and he has never put the first flower on Ronnie's grave. He doesn't do anything - he won't go near the grave. The chain that Marshall wears around his neck, the dog-tag - that was Ronnie's. I gave him the dog-tag, he makes duplicates, he sells them now, and that really broke my heart because this is something sacred to me that I gave the boy. If my son could speak to you today from the grave he would say, "Marshall stop some of the garbage, make up with your family, life's too short"."

Marshall had a good relationship to his granny until he wanted to use Ronnie’s voice on a tape. He intented to do this as a tribute to his deceased uncle, but Betty thought he was disrespectful towards her son. In 2002 , both reconciled. Betty Kresin is currently writing a book on her grandson which shall be entitled « The Tie That Binds ».

Betty says she’s proud of her grandson and that she stands on his side.

Eminem's Upcoming Album - A Standing Ovation For King Mathers?

This article purposely combines both highly speculated titles for Eminem’s upcoming album. An album that Marshall Mathers recently announced on NYC radio Hot’97.

After a few years break , Slim Shady’s return seems to be imminent, which constitutes an event in itself. After the rumors of his early retirement that go back to 2005, despite a strong denial from the artist himself, many listeners, fans and maybe even close friends kept asking themselves if Eminem had decided to work more in the field of producing or if he simply buried his evil character for good.

But maybe Eminem’s return will not be musically written in the same terms as expected. Maybe Eminem intends to come up with a brand new style. If he doesn’t, he might resurrect Slim Shady from his grave, who knows?

At the time I am writing those lines, those are only empty suppositions. All we can do is wait and see.

Eminem is truly a phenomenon in rap history. His detractors pretend that he used his skin color to reach the top more easily.

Matter of fact: among all white rapping artists (pardon me, I really hate talking about an artist’s skin color, but this element is necessary, if I want to prove my point), Eminem is the only one with a worldwide mainstream appeal in the world of hip hop.

Actually, Eminem is one of the most talked about contemporary rap artists.

Many people tried to imitate his style, but all of them failed before they achieved anything consistent.

So, why did Eminem, also known to the public as Marshall Mathers, have such an impact in hip hop?

The first reason is undeniably Eminem’s brilliance. The more I got in depth in studying his music through the years, the more his intelligence in handling compound syllables, his subtle sense of humor, his ability to use his own weaknesses to his greatest advantage, his honesty in describing true life situations he went through, impressed me.

Some people always objected that Eminem owes everything to Dr Dre. If it is true that brilliance isn’t everything in the merciless world of the music industry, Eminem’s early work is the full expression of a musical genius.

A song like Biterphobia is a subtle musical composition, lyrically and instrumentally as well. It was released in 1994. One could barely object that the young Marshall Mathers had the means to pay a ghostwriter at time he was struggling to survive, which means the young man was a true (undiscovered) lyrical genius. Other songs from the Slim Shady EP do carry the same brilliance in the writing; one has to admit that the early Eminem excels in storytelling.

Second handedly, and whether his detractors like it or not, Eminem is credible as a white man in a black man’s world.

As he stated it in a former interview that goes back to 1999, Marshall Mathers used to live across the black side of 8 Mile, because his mom couldn‘t afford to pay the rent on the white side.

Totally immersed into hip hop culture since his uncle Ronnie introduced him into Ice T’s Breaking CD, Eminem also grew up into the harsh world of 8 Mile where had to fight for his dream to come true, despite the racial tension that was prevailing in the early 90’s.

Also and despite climate of hatred and suspicion between black and white communities, Marshall Mathers built some true friendships with his black fellows. D 12 isn’t a group that was born by professional interest like it often happens in the music industry , but it resulted from brothers (RIP Proof is the main founder of the group) who shared the same passion for the vibe.

Third, one should also recall that Eminem does not conform with the usual artistic stereotype.

His down to earth attitude, his self hatred, his honesty in exposing ugly facts and situations, his modest origins, his approachability in terms of sharing his life story details soon made a very likable person of Eminem in hip hop fans’ eyes.

Eminem soon became the example of somebody people could relate to. His acclaim is totally justified in that way, because he managed to break the distance between artist and listener, creating an unprecedented closeness and complicity with the fan.

Maybe Eminem is also the prototype of a walking contradiction: his generosity in exposing quantity of details from his life story soon became the boomerang that would hit him hard in terms of the liberty he was longing for. Stalkers of all kind would soon make his private life a living nightmare.

Since he was catapult to the top to now, Eminem has offered his listeners a prolific work with very various artistic collaborations.

His second album, the Marshall Mathers LP, probably tops any other of his albums, because it is a subtle combination of poetry, creativity, social commentary, shock value, an invaluable sense of humor-at least in my eyes. Moreover, Marshall Mathers is an artist who managed to create specific atmosphere thanks to his subtle mastery of the English language. A song like Stan has the depth of Rimbaud’s poem Le Dormeur Du Val. Like the French poet, Eminem draws a picture that is getting more dramatic and darker as times goes by. Further on, the 8 Mile Road song, for instance, is built on similar [i] sounds that imply a constant struggle. A similar structure can also be found in Yellow Brick Road, a subtle syllabic word construction that will remain an attentive ear of the monotonous sound of a train on the rails.

Very few songs surpass Drug Ballad, a beautiful instrumental and word combination that allows the listener to enter into the forbidden world of a drug addict, making him feel the sensation of drowning into the alcohol. The instrumentals truly make you feel the infernal spiral in which the addict is caught with no way to escape.

Encore is probably the worst of his albums. Despite a few well written songs like Mosh, it indicated some artistic fatigue and some of its themes need to be renewed. The commercial dimension of some songs in Encore really disappointed me.

By stating this a while, I raised some controversy. But I really don’t care.

I’m not here to praise Eminem in any case. As a music journalist, I am here to offer an honest and objective perception of the artist from a professional point of view. I owe my readers the truth.

Eminem’s force also lies in the fact that he manages to use the darkest life situations he went through in order to transform them into artistic creativity.

Since 2005, Eminem has been through very painful events. His best friend Proof’s death is probably one of the worst sorrows a human being can go through. I trust Eminem’s will to honor his friend s memory will allow him to dig out of his heart the most beautiful and creative lyrical treasures.

Then the world will be truly be his for the taking because the crowd of listeners will be touched and crown its king of the mic for a standing ovation.

Tony Yayo

Tony Yayo has bein included on most of his G Unit friends solo albums, in preparation for his own debut album release. The artists featured on the album consist of 50 Cent, Young Buck, The Game and Lloyd Banks. And of course other artists such as, Lil' Flip, Paul Wall, Eminem and Dr. Dre. The album title Thoughts Of A Predicate Felon has already been released in America.

Expectation for Thoughts Of A Predicate Felon has developed since his new audio tracks have been featured on mixtapes and the most popular radio stations. Tony Yayo is one of G Units original members. During a tour stop in south New York, the G Unit artist was detained for an outstanding weapons charges warrent and was sentenced to a year in a New York prison. When Yayo was finally let out from prison he was almost immediately detained again the next day for having in his possesion a fake passport. The incident forced Yayo to spend six months in prison. After release, the rapper began preparing for his debut album.

The G Unit rapper was recording with G-Unit even though he is only featured two times on Beg For Mercy. Free Yayo was a group created by the G Unit members with the purpose of creating great support for the detained Tony Yayo. For example, on the Beg For Mercy sony Stunt 101 rapper and friend Young Buck says free yayo, the video for that same track features "free Yayo" graffiti. The interest group got to be much bigger than any of them had imagined, even with such rappers such as Eminem wearing a "Free Yayo" T-Shirt at an MTV music Awards 2005. Which ended up in the sale of apparel with the phrase 'Free Yayo' on it. The association was accountable for the enthusiasm and expectation produced for the release of the G-Unit rapper. As an additional effect, Tony Yayo's features on alternative mixtapes seriously raised sales of DJs such as DJ Clue and DJ Whoo Kid.

G Unit Members

50 Cent is an artist signed to Shady / Aftermath Records. He survived gettin shot nine times, and propelled to mainstream success. His two albums Get Rich Or Die Tryin' (now also a movie based on his life) and The Massacre (which sold millions) were produced by rap legends Eminem and Dr. Dre. With their assistance, G-Unit is now one of the top-selling hip-hop acts around. By far the youngest member of G Unit Member. His first album "The Hunger For More", consists of the hit tracks "On Fire" and "I'm So Fly". AllThough he never mention this fact, Lloyd Banks is half Puerto Rican, and halfAfrican American.

Tony Yayo called the Talk of New York hence the name tony, he has been featured on tracks along side 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Young Buck and The Game on their albums, as well as G-Unit's first album Beg for Mercy. Tony Yayo was arrested and jailed on charges of possesion of weapons. All the G-Unit Group including Eminem and Dre started a Free Yayo campaign while he was serving his time in prison. When he was set free in late 04, he ment strait into recording his first album. Coming from down south in Nashville. His first G-Unit album, Straight Outta Cashville, was released about a month after Banks' album. After Juvenile feld the label officially, Buck was left high and dry without a label to sign with. 50 Cent, while on tour wrote up a contract, and signed the him to G-Unit. He started his career with his friend and college D-Tay and was soon discovered by Cash Money Records. Olivia is the first lady of G Unit Member, and the only R & B singer from the G-Unit record label. Her first album with the label J Records was shelved and she was soon dropped after that. Then she came back as a full member of G-Unit. Her album, Behind Closed Doors, will be her official debut, with features from G-Unit and Dr. Dre.

Facts about MC Big Proof

Facts about MC Big Proof
“If I was you, suicide would be a way of life. If you was me , you’d kill you.” (Proof)

Before I start talking about D12’s gifted Mc Proof, I would like to thank and to give credit to the webmaster of the following Derty Harry website for the rare info I found about Deshaun Holton aka Derty Harry aka Proof:

http://angelfire.com/bxc3/dertyharry/main_bio.html

Deshaun Holton aka Proof was born on October the 2nd 1975 in Detroit.
Although they didn’t attend the same High School, Eminem and Proof have been friends since 1988. They used to live in the same street in Detroit.
Proof used to go to Osbourne High school while Eminem was attending Lincoln High. Both friends used to skip high school in order to rap together: in fact Eminem skipped Lincoln High and used to come to Proof’s school very often, because both friends wanted to rap together. This is how they met:

“I was skipping school, and he was skipping school also, passing out flyers for his concert he was having in Centerline. That had to be, like, '88 or something.” (Proof)

Some (white) underground Mcs from Detroit like Backstab the Kingpin are convinced of Proof’s racism. But Deshaun’s statements seem to prove the contrary.

CDNow has asked Proof how he felt about Eminem’s skin color at the time they met:

CDNow: Did you wonder what this blond, white kid was up to?

Proof: “You know, I went to Catholic school and had a great, great friend of mine who happened to be Irish; we were best friends since the sixth grade. So when I saw [Eminem] was white, I didn't even jump off like that; when he rapped, he was dope. What made us get dope and become great friends was we both rhymed "first place" and "birthday," and we've been tight ever since [laughs].”

Eminem and Proof have been real friends since the beginning. When Eminem was kicked out of his home, he would sleep at Proof’s house.
It is well known that Proof is an amazing freestyler. He won the freestyling competition in the Source magazine in 1999. He his a better freestyler than Marshall, but Marshall’s force is in the way he handles his words in his lyrics. That’s exactly what Proof states about their complementary talent:

“We were both impressed with each other. The advantage I've got over Em is freestyling; I'm the kind of guy who freestyles off the head, right? The advantage he had over me was that he knew how to write intricately; he knew how to put a song together and bring feelings about. That's why I journeyed under him, like, "Yo, show me the ropes, homeboy."

The idea of the D12 group composed of talented MCs and sick aliases with popped into Proof’s mind:

"I was in New York; I had this deal with Tommy Boy that didn't work out, unfortunately. But I just had this idea that we could put together a team of dope MCs, put a lot of Detroit on as far as having MCs with skills. Everybody's solo took so we'll make aliases, like Eminem's Slim Shady and I'm Derty Harry, and call it the Dirty Dozen -- and at this time, to be honest with you, we thought The Dirty Dozen was a Western movie; we didn't know it was an army movie [laughs].
That fits us, army rather than Western, 'cause we see ourselves more as gun-slingers, lyric-slingers. Then the idea was to form a pact whereas this team, whoever gets out first comes back and gets the rest of the group."

Proof has always been confident in Eminem’s loyalty, even if some other members of the group may have been worried:

“Not me; I've been there since day one, almost. I think the rest of the group may not have been there, but Proof has been beside Eminem all this time. I play a leadership role in the group, where I talk to everyone else; Em is like the president, and I'm the general. I talk to the rest of the fellas and put 'em in line and show 'em the direction. It's a family, too, so there'll be a lot of fighting and bickering, and some people might have felt it might not be the way it should be. So, yes, there were times when people felt funny about things. But now everybody thinks back to that, and we were tripping out over nothing.”

Acccording to Proof, Eminem’s success was the best thing that could have happened to D12:

“Right. Some people look at us like, "You're gonna be Eminem's group. You're gonna be in his shadow." They don't realize how positive and great that is to hear; if you're in the shadow of a guy who can sell almost 10 million records in just the states alone, great. That's not a dis to us. But when they hear the album, they hear the individuality of each person, how everybody holds their own.”

It is so true that each D12 emcee has his own talent and ability to rap.

It is less known that Proof’s first stage name was “Maximum”. Proof has always been appreciated in Detroit for his raps and his freestyling qualities. He changed his nickname when people started calling him “Living Proof”, because in many people’s minds, Proof was the “living proof of the living MCs in Detroit".

Proof has collaborated and still collaborates with numerous artists such as Dogmatic.
Proof’s first released Cd was called “From Death” and was co-produced with Da Goon Squad.

He has released a CD called “Promatic” with Dogmatic and a six Track solo EP called “The Search For Jerry Garcia”.
As well as for Eminem, Detroit has been very influencial to Proof who describes his hometown as “the type of place where eye contact can get you killed” and also as “ a city where the sun never shines, full of pot holes, snow and con artists ready to jack everything you got”.

Business Success Know How Niche

Business Success is found right next door, you just need to look for the recipes. How do you find these recipes?

You need to find your competitors, and improve on their faults. Not competitors that are on your level financially ones that currently saturate your market.

Let's use someone you wouldn't expect to read about here; for this example we'll use Eminem:

Eminem [The Rapper] is popular because he is Caucasian and because the words he uses is above average in rap talk they are more of education terms not in simple talk. So he is a prime example: He Raps which is your business, he is Caucasian which is different from his competitors, however the main difference is that he has improved on the talk from other rappers [which creats his niche] his niche is the education of words.

Here's another example
If I did Online Marketing for a living, than I would go to a big name like Stephen Pierce. I would look at his site and his products. If I could not improve on them, I would match by making my own on what the theme of products he sells are, then would try to Joint Venture with others that he would normally Joint Venture with, if I could not get in contact with those people I would see what kind of people he has Joint Ventured with and would look for similar ones.

Here are your steps to your business success
1.Look at their Image
2.Look at their Products - what they are marketing
3. Write a plan for yourself using their products eg. Create your products, following their recepie but your work: Product 1, Product 2, Product 3.
4. Apply and use marketing techniques that are used for your type of product. Eg. If its online than read eg. numberoneaffiliatemarketing.blogspot.com for some basic practices online you should be doing daily, weekly etc.

If you are not online than use what you think, read up on how others flourished. A huge problem in our society is contacts. They take years to create and sometimes it's very hard to progress without them. So you need to keep looking at your recipe and keep adjusting it, daily, weekly if need be. Until you create your success.

To Life!

The Reinvention of Rap

I blame Eminem.

Prior to his sampling of Dido on his 2000 track Stan, I would have assigned Rap to the domain of angry disenfranchised African Americans like Iced Tea, Tupac Shakur or Snoop Doggy Dog. Now it would seem that most of the Top 40 is riddled with Rap Artists.

So when did Rap become mainstream? Is it that Rap Music has become more melodic or have we just broadened our listening tastes?

Basically Rap is a form of rhyming lyrics spoken rhythmically with a musical backdrop and, love him or hate him, Eminem has managed to bring Rap squarely into the Top 40 realm. Witness the turnaround of mainstream commentators who once claimed he and his lyrics would poison our children’s minds to his 2002 Oscar win for Lose Yourself from the film 8 Mile. The comparisons to the King himself, Elvis Presley are inevitable. And like the Rolling Stones, who helped translate blues to the white mainstream, Eminem’s lyrical talents turn stinging lyrics into hum-a-long pop tunes.

But Eminem is not the first white artist to create crossover hits from the Rap genre. From Bob Dylan’s 1965 Subterranean Homesick Blues to Blondie’s 1981 Rapture to 1986’s Aerosmith Run DMC collaboration Walk This Way and even Vanilla Ice’s 1990 Ice Ice Baby. And now the likes of 50 Cent, Nelly, Ludacris, Beastie Boys, Missy Elliott, Beyonce, Outkast, Usher and The Game continue the tradition.

Is it mere coincidence that Hate It Or Love It on The Game’s 2005 CD The Documentary reminds me of PM Dawn’s 1997 hit Set Adrift On Memory Bliss?

Is it the increasing reliance on sampling of other hits which have permeated our subconscious or using broader instrumentation and orchestration or the synthesized electronically programmed equivalent that pushes these tracks up the charts? Or is it the catchy choruses? I mean it may be just me, but who, but the most street cred Rap connoisseur, understands the allegorical coda of these yrics, while we can all hum or sing a long to the chorus just enough to want to buy or download the track and maybe even the whole album.

And it seems now that almost every rapper has at least one or two ballad style tracks, preferably with an R & B style mainstream artist to assist with that crossover. 2002’s Dilemma duet of Nelly and Destiny Child’s Kelly Rowlands or Work It with Justin Timberlake from the same album proves the rapper can also sing in these fusions of Soul meets Rap which hit the top of the charts and stay there.

So has Rap become mainstream or does the likes of Eminem merely represent a contrived marketing plan by Record Companies to pick up where Pop has sadly left off. Now that boy bands have almost died out and the titanic phenomenon that is American (or substitute your own country here) Idol has steamrollered over the singer/songwriter traditional pop consciousness has Rap merely mellowed to fill the void?

Sadly I cannot answer these questions definitively. The music industry and the record buying public are a fickle lot. Technology brings a two edged sword of making more music more available by downloading but also shrinking the market place income to the need for record companies to rely on “sure things”.

And Rappers aren’t that different to any other musician or anyone else with something to sell. They may be in the industry for all very noble purposes of being an artist or saying something important with their lyrics. But ultimately they too want to sell their records and make money and live comfortable celebrity lifestyles.

So Rap music over time has become more commercial and more digestible to the mass black and white audiences. Melodies are now familiar to Generation X, Y and Z and the Baby Boomers. Remixed to suit nightclub or coffee shop audiences.

And ultimately no matter how cynically we want to look at it, the more variety of music there is out there the more diverse our listening habits become.

And that can only be a good thing.

Where To Listen To Your Favorite Music For Free?

Limewire and all other file-sharing software is not actually illegal. It is called a "file sharing" software so you can share files - just not ones with copyright on them. E.g. you can listen to a song your friend might have put on the file sharing software as a little joke - but you can't download one of Eminem's songs. I will show you why it not only can affect yourself, but how it affects others too.

Nothing in life is perfect. When you want to do something there will always be something in your way. In this case when you are trying to download music it is not only illegal, but you could face much more severe consequences than a £1000 fine if caught.

As you may already know, the world is crawling with hackers who try and ruin your computer for fun or as a "business". A business? Yes, they can exploit your account and blackmail you. They do this via the following way:

If you wanted to download your favourite music, say a song by Eminem, you might go onto Limewire to download it. So what these hackers can do is infect all these music files with spyware (a bug that hackers send out to spy on your computer) and trace your IP address (computer's identification) back to their own system. From here they can easily exploit your bank accounts, crash your systems and if you own your own website, corrupt your server. They could then email/phone you asking for a hefty sum of money ( in the hundreds of thousands) and blackmail you by demanding a ransom and then they say they'll stop hacking into your account. For them it is a win - win situation. All this could be caused by downloading just one song. Crazy when you think about it.

Pornographers on the internet do the same thing. They promote their websites though and are not too interested in the account exploitation. However, if they get hold of your IP address, they could flood your desktop with pop-ups and eventually causing your computer to crash to a point that it can't be fixed.

These are the two MAIN ways in that your computer could be affected by illegal downloading. I think you would have learned by now the consequences that affect you. However there is one more consequence that could make your favourite singer to go out of business.

Imagine that you download a smash hit new single from Eminem of Limewire. He loses about $4/£2 profit. What is £2, it is a very nominal amount of money, isn't it? However, because the song is so popular, 1 million people download the same song for free. This means that Eminem would lose out on about $4 million or £2 million. If this kept happening, he would become broke, and you would be able to hear any of his new music ever again.

So, there is a way to listen to music for free, WITHOUT the financial consequences. The two main ways are:

1. If you have BT Yahoo Broadband, you can listen to your favourite songs of Yahoo Music.
2. You can go to the fansite of that artist and usually they have 3 of his/her main hits on the website that you can listen to for free.
3. Sometimes you see those annoying popups asking you to pick a ringtone of your choice for free to put on your phone. Well actually, it is FREE. They will send you that ringtone/ real sound for free if you have a phone and give them your mobile number.

This is not illegal AND it is free.

What is Oily Skin, How to Treat It, and How NOT to Treat It

1 out of every 2 teenagers has oily skin. We hear about it every day on TV and the radio in ads for Proactive and Murad. Stars like Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton, Puff Daddy, Eminem, and even Paris Hilton all pitch various products and treatments for oily skin. Most of these products are nothing more than a mild benzoyl peroxide or salicylic (less than 2%) cleanser. The reality is that when we questioned real dermatologists none recommended these products. Their actual recommendations were:

1) skin peels and laser treatments.

2) tetracycline

3) Accutane - in severe acne cases only.

4) Doxycycline

5) Cetaphil - Every dermatologist said this was a great face wash.

You have to remember Paris Hilton, Eminem, and Jessica Simpson are all paid endorsers. Read the fine print. Not one of them guarantees or stands behind the product. To properly treat oily skin and the acne it can and usually does cause, you have to get to the source.

Benzoyl peroxide will only affect the surface and irritate it. Salicylic acid is a weaker acid and must be used in much stronger strengths to be effective - lees than 10% just won't cut it. What really works is treating the bacteria that are rampant in oily skin. This is what causes acne. A trichloroacetic acid (TCA peel) skin peel is the most effective external treatment and now the most cost effective as it is currently available to consumers for in home use. A TCA peel will alter the skin pH (acidity levels) and make the conditions unfavorable for the bacteria. TCA peels will also get rid of excess oil, increase exfolliation, collagen production, and new skin production - all helpful with oily skin. TCA peels are also very effective on acne scars - an added plus. And the best thing is there are no side effects.

Tetracycline is available by prescription only. It will kill the bacteria, but only for as long as you keep taking it. It will not affect the oilyness and is not effective against mild to severe acne. It also has side effects like yellow teeth. Their are similar antibiotics like doxycycline that have basically the same results.

Accutane is a very drastic prescription only medication. The side effects can be quite severe and are common. Blood tests must be done on a weekly or monthly basis. Accutane will cease the production of oil by stopping the functionality of the sebaceous glands. Usually this was reserved for mild to severe acne patients. The complications are so severe there have been numerous class action lawsuits (just watch TV or look up Sokolove the attorneys office on the internet).

Lasers have been used in a limited capacity as they are still too expensive and are mostly effective on thee resultant scarring from the acne, not on the oilyness and excess sebum production.

So, straight from real non-paid dermatologists all over the country, one can conclude that the most effective treatment with the least cost is TCA peels. And they are now available for home use. Now you know how to permanently cure oily skin, treat acne, and have beautiful skin from a real dermatologists perspective. Don't be misled by a highly compensated endorser like Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson, Eminem, Puff Daddy, etc...

When I'm Gone/ Eminem Song Review

Rating: 3.75 stars

I discovered Eminem’s most recent song thanks to a fellow fan from my French Eminem forum. In fact, this is a radio edit of Marshall’s exclusive song.

You all know how much I am into Eminem and I’d like to share my feelings and impressions with my readers straight away.

While listening to the lyrics of the song, sadness overwhelmed my soul and I kept asking myself: « What is wrong with you, Marshall Mathers? Is it so hard for you to say good bye to your fans or is there something else you want to tell us all? »

The song is gently introduced by light bell sounds and followed by numerous violins which make the listener feel how much the pain is deep and how much Marshall speaks from his heart.

Marshall’s mind is troubled right now and his most recent song made me feel sad and uncomfortable. Yes, he let his emotions out of his chest. Moreover, he made his public feel there was something wrong with him.

For the first time, Eminem has a broken voice on a track which reflects his broken heart. What is happening to Marshall right now? I think I have an answer for my readers.

Marshall feels like it is time the curtain of his public show closed for good. Not that he doesn’t love his fans, but Marshall re-questions his choices and priorities.

Eminem recalls all the good times and the drama that happened in his love life.

As the good family man he is, Marshall is very conscious that he sometimes makes his daughter suffer through his absence. His lack of time and Kim’s whereabouts sometimes make Hailie’s life a real nightmare. When the little girl is looking for her parents, she is unable to find any of them. People who have followed Kim’s story know that she went AWOL, spent some time in rehab and in jail because of her cocaine addiction problems. Hailie was left with no answer during her absence. Her loving dad, her emotional support was always on the move, whether he was touring or promoting his album.

The refrain is like tears falling from Eminem’s heart. Marshall is conscious of his daughter’s pain and it literally breaks his heart:

« ...And when I'm gone, just carry on... don't mourn. Rejoice every time you hear the sound of my voice, Just know that I'm looking down on you smiling, And I ain't gon' feel a thing, So baby don't feel no pain. Just smile back... »

His fans ought to know that deep inside of him, Marshall lives a real drama. He is heartbroken, inconsolable, helpless.

His daughter, the sunlight in his life, doesn’t want him to go on touring. Eminem’s insecurities and feelings of guiltiness follow him into his dreams and turn into a nightmare:

« I keep having this dream, I'm pushing Hailie on the swings She keeps screaming, she don't want me to sing. You're making mommy cry. Why ? Why is mommy crying, Baby, daddy ain't leaving no more - daddy you're lying. You always say that, You always say this is the last time, But you ain't leaving no more, Daddy you are mine. She's piling boxes in front of the door trying to block it Daddy please, daddy don't leave, daddy, no stop it. »

Back to reality, the inside drama goes on. Hailie pulls a little picture for her dad out of her pocket. While being on stage, the pain increases with intensity. Marshall can hear the voice of his conscience telling him:

"You have got one more chance to do right, and it's tonight Now go out there and show that you love them before it's too late." And just as I go to walk out my bedroom door It's turns to a stage, they're gone and this spotlight is on And I'm singing... »

On stage, the crowd acclaims Marshall in a very loud scream.

While the fans are throwing roses at his feet, Marshall can hear the voice of his daughter telling him:

"Daddy it's me, help mommy her wrists are bleeding!" But baby we're in Sweden, how did you get to Sweden ? I followed you daddy, you told me that you weren't leaving. You lied to me dad, and now you make mommy sad And I bought you this coin, it says "Number One Dad".

Eminem makes some reference to the drama that happened in 2001. Kim made a suicide attempt, trying to slit her wrists. Maybe the fear of another drama is still present. The past backfires hard into Marshall’s head and pumps loud like heartbeats.

Hailie’s voice is there, once again, in form of reproaches:

- It's too late dad, you made the choice Now go up there and show them that you love them more than us. That's what they want, they want you Marshall, they keep screaming your name It's no wonder you can't go to sleep... Just take another pill... Yea, I bet you you will. You rap about it... Yea, Word, Keep it real. »

Hailie feels like his dad loves his fans more than his own family. Marshall feels like his mind is split between his love for his family, his passion for the music and the feeling of owing his shows to his fans. He also makes some clear references to his sleep medication addiction.

Eminem is a brilliant performer who is loved for what he does. I will never forget when I first saw him on stage in 2003 at the Paris Bercy show and I’d like him to know that this unforgettable event is one of the most beautiful moments he offered me through his music and great performance. I will keep the magic of his show in my heart as long as I live.

I am asking myself if Eminem is feeling guilty of being absent so often or if he also puts a burden of guilt on his fans shoulders. Eminem ought to know that true fans will always be very understanding towards his situation and the way he feels.

It seems very clear that Eminem’s heart is bleeding right now. The fans need to understand that Marshall is tired, that he has some issues to solve and that he really needs to take a break.

Marshall has visions of nightmares into his mind while the curtain closes and he says goodbye to the crowd:

« I hear applause, all this time I couldn't see How could it be, That the curtain is closing on me. I turn around, find a gun on the ground Put it to my brain and scream "Die Shady!" and PUMP IT. […]My life flashes, the plane what I was supposed to be on crashes and burns to ashes… »

He suddenly wakes up from his horrible nightmare when he’s back home:

« That's when I wake up, A long hot spring and there's birds singing It's brilliant, Hailie's outside swinging, I walk up to Kim and kiss her. Tell her I miss her, Hailie just smiles and winks at her little sister. Almost as if to say... »

Marshall, you filled my eyes with tears with your brand new song. I feel that too many problems are unsolved and do hurt inside of your family. Take the time needed to heal your heart. We love to see you performing, but your loyal fans don’t want you to pay the highest price just to please our eyes and ears.

Eminem is telling us that he is not only physically exhausted, but also mentally. Let him close the curtain if he feels it is time to do so. A little girl has been deprived of her father for numerous years. Life is precious and Marshall needs to spend some time with his beloved ones.

Touching but very sad song that allowed us to penetrate into Marshall’s bleeding heart and gave us some insight about how he really feels right now.

How Has Eminem Risen to the Top?

How is it that a little white boy from Kansas City has become the most well known rapper in the world? Starting from nothing and eventually moving up to a multi-millionaire, Eminem over the past seven years has been in the eye of the public everywhere you look. He has essentially entered a black man’s business and gone to the top over the course of a few years, but how?

On October 17, 1972 Marshall Bruce Mathers III was born in St. Joseph, MO by his 15 year old mother Debbie. Six months later his father was gone and this began the struggle for Marshall and his mother; one that was just the beginning. Throughout the course of his childhood Marshall and his mother moved numerous times into different houses from Kansas City to Detroit. The maximum time spent in one house was only 3 months, which caused Marshall to attend many different schools making it difficult to cope to the different surroundings and make friends. Every new school he attended he was bullied as he was the new kid. This was something that he could not change as he was never stationed in one school for a long period of time. At the age of 12 he and his mother finally settled in a house in Detroit. He would later use the bullying to his advantage fueling him to get back at all his bullies through songs.

By the age of 4 Marshall was already beginning to rap and put words together rhyming them. At school he was rather successful considering the circumstances, but it was lunchtime that he enjoyed as he often battled schoolmates through freestyles. At the age of 14 Marshall began to get serious about rapping and felt that he had a shot in the business. When he got to the ninth grade he failed it three times before eventually dropping out as he felt school was not for him.

When he turned 17 he came up with the name M&M for himself by combining the first letters of his first and last name, which later was changed to Eminem. Now that he didn’t have school as a distraction, he focused solely on rapping with the goal of making it to the top. He faced constant struggle on the way to stardom as he was continuously rejected by most rappers because of his race, despite his true talent. This grew anger inside of him that he uses in his music today. Knowing that it wasn’t going to be easy and that he would have to work, Marshall forced himself onto radio shows and freestyle battles to prove everybody wrong. He eventually got a first album titled “Infinite”, but it only sold 1,000 copies. It wasn’t until 1997 that Marshall would make a name for himself.

In 1997 he was married with a child trying to support his family with very little cash to do it with. He went to the Rap Olympics in Los Angeles hoping to win the cash prize of $1,500 for first place, but instead was spotted by a few sponsors from Interscope. Furious that he had come in second, he later found out about the sponsors and he gave them a copy of the “Infinite” tape, which was later sent to Dr. Dre. Dre was extremely impressed with the talent of Eminem and got contact of him, where the two recorded his second album; The Slim Shady LP. This album set the tone for his style of rap, as he lashed out on everyone that had bullied him throughout his life. It was a different style than anyone had ever heard, which brought him to stardom.

Eminem is by far the most popular rapper that is seen most in public. He has been seen in Rap Pages, VIBE, Rolling Stone, Spin, The Source, URB and Stress and continues to strive for more. He became the first white person to ever be on the cover of The Source. Throughout his life he has starred in the movie “8 Mile” based on his life growing up, has had over 20 guest appearances on TV, has featured on numerous different rappers CD’s, and has recorded 5 CD’s of his own. His second LP, “The Marshall Mathers LP”, sold over 8 million records in the United States alone, 1.76 million copies in the first week setting a record for a solo artist. This album became the first rap album ever to be nominated for “Album of the Year” at the Grammies. He would go on to win 3 Grammies for the album that night. In the year 2002 he made $29 million in earnings of his fourth album “The Eminem Show LP” and touring for it. Then on March 23, 2003 the song “Lose Yourself” from his movie “8 Mile” became the first rap song to ever win an Academy Award.

While being known for his explicit behavior and horrendous lyrics on his albums and in the eye of the public, it is difficult to overlook all that he has achieved. Coming from where he did and rising to where he is currently, it is remarkable what he has done not only for himself, but the rap world as well. While it is hard for most to like him, there are not many that do not at least respect him for what he has achieved as of now, and what he may do in the future to come.

Uncle ILL, a Detroit Legend with an Original Sound and Voice

Many thanks to Uncle ILL for the info he accepted to share with me. Jermaine Harbin aka Uncle ILL was born on April the 5th, 1976, in Detroit. Uncle ILL grew up in Detroit. Not only was he the witness of the early stages of Detroit hip hop, he participated largely to its first steps. Rich of 16 years of rapping experience, Uncle ILL has earned a lot of respect on the local scene. However, Jermaine Harbin deserves more recognition on a nationwide and international scale for his numerous collaborations and very original and diverse work. Largely influenced by Ice T’ movie Breakin’, Uncle ILL started rapping at the age of 12.

How does he sound?

In fact, it is quite difficult to define Uncle ILL’s music. Very open minded about the music, Uncle ILL found his inspiration in many different artists such as Ice T, George Clinton, NWA, Eminem, Kraftwerk, Red Hot Chili Peppers and many more. With his typical grave voice, Uncle ILL talks about diverse themes from domestic disputes, fake thugs, hood life to moving to the suburbs and nosey behaviors, just to name a few themes. Uncle ILL uses various instruments and manages to create a very dynamic and energetic sound. You could barely sit down while listening to Uncle ILL: most of his tracks are an invitation to move your body and dance to his music. Uncle ILL is not a hardcore rapper, he nevertheless deserves the listeners’ attention for his good work.

Back in the days of early Detroit hip hop Uncle ILL has collaborated with many local emcees on the Detroit scene. In the early stages of his career, Jermaine Harbin needed some beats. A friend of his, Fred, introduced him to Manix of Bassmint Productions. At this time Manix was producing beats for Champtown’s album, Crazy Home escapist & Check It, an album on which Uncle ILL is featured. This is also how two young men known as Marshall Mathers aka Eminem and Dan Carlisle aka Mc Hush crossed his road. Soon Uncle ILL and Mc Hush would unite their talents and their passion for hip hop and work together on their common Da Ruckus label.

Da Ruckus

After his collaborations with local rapper Champtown, the Detroit rapper that would actually play a major role in Uncle ILL’s collaborations is another veteran on the local scene: Dan Carlisle aka Mc Hush. Both rappers decided to unite their talents and their passion for hip hop and created the legendary label known as Da Ruckus that is mentioned in Eminem’s Stan song. In 1997, Da Ruckus released an album independently, Quiet As Kept. Federation Records decided to invest in the Da Ruckus label and the following year, the label would release an EP Da Ruckus Episode 1. 150 Emcees is an example of the beautifully well handled songs from the Episode 1 EP. Da Ruckus Episode 1 is rich of many interesting Detroit collaborations including Eminem, Swifty of D12, Miz Korona, Mad Chemist. Two singles, « We Shine » in collaboration with Eminem and « We Came Here To Party » in collaboration with Dale, would be released in 1998. In his Metro Times review of Da Ruckus, Hobey Echlin says about Epidode 1: « Episode1 isn’t just tight, it’s a pretty accurate depiction of a day in the strife. » You will be able to listen to snippets of Epidode 1 here. http://www.undergroundhiphop.com/store/detail.asp?UPC=FR770CD

One of Da Ruckus’ main goals was to struggle for more recognition on a national scale. Da Ruckus’ musical style is dark and close to a definitely Esham inspired horror core.

Solo career and collaboration with Mad Chemist

After a while, Hush and Uncle ILL decided to both concentrate on their solo careers. Uncle ILL started collaborating with Mad Chemist on his solo album Ya’ll Know, that was released in 2001. Mad Chemist produced Y’all Know. You will be able to listen to some tracks of Uncle ILL’s album here. http://www.undergroundhiphop.com/store/detail.asp?UPC=SR011CD

I particularly recommend you Cho, Who’s Ya Uncle, Stress and Sunday. Uncle ILL’s CD is full of interesting Detroit collaborations, including Mad Chemisy, Mc Hush and Miz Corona. I’d call it a Detroit underground classic that is definitely worth your interest.

A rich career that is far from ending Besides his numerous collaborations with fellow emcees, the commercials he did for various companies like Wireless Toyz, Uncle ILL also created his own clothing line Uncle ILL Gear. Moreover, the talented and dynamic Uncle ILL never gave up his passion for rap: he is still active in making his original music. On November the 15th, 2005, he released a brand new CD, Undisputed (1996-2006), which can be considered as an anthology of his work and collaborations. Uncle ILL has made a video for his Keep On song that can be found on his my space account.

Uncle ILL is a skilled emcee of experience. Co founder of the Da Ruckus label, Detroiters already consider him as a local hip hop legend. Check out the talented artist who is definitely worth your attention.
